Heinrek was born October 6, 1925, son of Dagbjartur and Lovisa Torfidoitter Gudbjartsson in Akra, North Dakota. He was a full blood Icelander, raised in North Dakota. Heinrek proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He met and married the love of his life, Pauline Sims and they spent 65 happy years together. Heinrek was a great family man who was well respected. He loved taking his family to vacation in Colorado. Heinrek was known by family and neighbors as the "Fix It Man", always giving of his time and skills. He was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church. Heinrek will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Mark; and brother, Torfi Gudbjartsson.

Survivors: loving wife of 65 years, Pauline Gudbjartsson; son, Steve Gudbjartsson and wife, Janet; daughter, Lisa Williams and husband, Brad; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members, church family and friends.
